Dog Park Destiny

I almost didn't swipe right. His profile said "dog dad" and had three photos of his golden retriever and only one of himself. But his prompt answer to "My simple pleasures..." was "Watching my dog make a new friend at the park and pretending I'm not jealous." That made me laugh out loud.

We matched, and I mentioned I take my rescue mutt to Riverside Park every morning. He said, "Wait — is your dog the scruffy brown one who steals everyone's tennis balls?" Turns out our dogs had been playing together for weeks. We'd probably walked right past each other.

Our first "date" was just showing up at the park at the same time, on purpose this time. The dogs went crazy. We sat on a bench and talked for three hours while they wrestled in the mud.

Six months later, we moved in together. The dogs share a bed. We share a life. And every morning, we walk to that same park, holding hands while our ridiculous dogs sprint ahead of us.
